According to the news, the Ministry of Interior will start to implement the new residency regulation, which will replace the residency visa stickers on the passport by expatriates’ civil ID cards.
Expats will only need their civil id to move in and out of Kuwait. The ID, with smart card
The renewal and payment of the ID cards can be processed online.
No more taking of passports
This is a great step forward to prevent future employers and/or agencies to take their employees passport.
Something that’s unclear
It is not clear for me on how is this new regulation going to be implemented. Here are some of my questions:
- What are we going to show to the Philippine immigration officer if we are traveling to Kuwait? Our civil ID? if so,
- We need to fix the English translation of our names to match the names on our passport. (I know some people who’s English names are spelled wrong or their middle name has become their first name)
- If I don’t have my ID with me, can I show my passport, if in case I need to show it to an officer?
